On Jan. 19th, 2011, the famous Russian actor, promoter, Andrey I, and his Yakutsk-based creative studio “Navigator” started making the world’s biggest (tallest/highest) stalagmite in Yakutsk, the administrative center of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the biggest Siberian region.
The stalagmite is going to be 30 metres in height. It is being created by an unique technology invented by Navigator fellows. In short, water is sprayed on its top, it freezes and creates a new ice layer after a layer. The base was done with the help of a Yakutsk fire-brigade.
The world’s biggest stalagmite will be called Serge, the Way to the Sky. In the Yakut culture, Serge is a national name of a tether.
Creators hope to get the upcoming world record listed in Guinness World Records.
The construction of the world’s biggest stalagmite is promised to be completed by March 2011.
UPDATE, Jan. 31, 2011:
Yakutsk Office of Public Prosecutor prohibited Andrey I to continue constructing the world’s biggest stalagmite. As they say, for security reasons 🙁

“Officially, there is no such place as Siberia. No political or territorial entity has Siberia as its name. In atlases, the word 'Siberia' hovers across the northern third of Asia unconnected to any place in particular, as if designating a zone or a condition…" - Ian Frazier.
